Joel Cachola, AMFT
Associate Marriage and Family Therapist
There are seasons in life when you might feel stuck, overwhelmed, or confused about your circumstances. Therapy can be a space to slow down, explore your thoughts and feelings, and begin to better understand yourself. At the core of my work is creating a space where people feel comfortable being real. I embrace all the ways you show up; thoughtful and reflective, other times humorous, strange or complicated parts of being human. I commit to showing up with genuiness and acceptance for where you are at.
In practice, I will help you developing practical tools that can help in everyday life while also understanding the deeper emotional and relational patterns that shape you.
I have supported individuals navigating anxiety, depression, relational difficulties, life transitions, grief, and trauma. I am also experienced with eating disorders, codependency, OCD, and personality-related challenges, particularly among individuals impacted by domestic violence and those navigating substance use and recovery.
In addition to working with adults, I also work with children and support them in processing emotional and behavioral challenges through play therapy and expressive activities. These approaches allow children to explore and communicate their experiences in developmentally appropriate ways.
For clients who desire it, I also welcome the integration of faith into the therapy process. I received my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Biola University and completed the Formation Certificate through the Christian Counseling & Educational Foundation’s School of Biblical Counseling. When it is meaningful for a client, I enjoy thoughtfully integrating psychological insight with a Christian understanding of growth, healing, and restoration.
Outside the therapy room, I enjoy In-N-Out, going to coffee shops, having meaningful conversations, and the occasional attempt to convince myself that I enjoy running.
