Andrew Benson, Psy.D.

Post-doctoral Psychology Associate

I believe that people are wired for connection and relationship, both with ourselves and with others. At their best, relationships can bring immense joy and pleasure. The problem is, they can also bring a host of various confusing and difficult issues. In my experience, therapy provides a unique type of engagement that can provide clarity, direction, confidence, and peace by exploring and uncovering the nature and influence of various relationships in your life. These discoveries and revelations drive understanding and change, often resulting in a fulfilling and enriched future.

I utilize primarily relationship focused psychodynamic therapy for its honor of the role of human connection in shaping who we are, and dialectical behavior therapy for its grounded capacity to drive change through balanced and thoughtful problem solving. More than anything, I do my best to fit our work around what is most effective for you, the patient.

My biggest goal as a therapist is to partner and walk along side you as you journey through your life. By building, understanding, translating, and sculpting your relationships with others and yourself (and even your therapist), we move toward growth. If this appeals to you, I invite you to reach out. Maybe we can make something really great.
